"foxfire" or "will o' the wisp" = a phosphorescent light
seen in marshy ground (combustion of gases).
In English it also means an elusive person.
In Japanese folklore a fox is an elusive animal that is able
to disguise itself as, shape-shift itself into a human !!
[> Inari = fox-god of the corn crop and of farmers and merchants.]

kitsúnè-bì ya / ízuko kawáchi nò / mugì-bátáke.

kitsúne/kítsune ["ki-tsü-nè" > ideogram: an animal next to a melon.]
= fox + bi=hi = fire / ya = and/ -- //
ízuko = how far (is it) ?! / where (is it) ?!
Kawachi no = Kawachi's //
múgi + hatáke = wheat + field(s).
