A hot air balloon in a lightning storm

A hot air balloon in a lightning storm
Dangerously soaring though the darkest of clouds
Alone together in the basket with my eyes open
The clouds around me look like ghosts

The sky cracks open and a thousand paper boats fall down
Trembling water drops turn into tears
A tidal wave of sadness creates invisibility
The strong wind carries me away

Holding on to the edge
Paper boats create a current
An atmosphere filled with colours of the northern lights
The storm subsiding in the night

While floating in my hot air balloon the storm has settled down
Bright stars appear in the stillness of a vast ocean
All the paper boats now sail over the dark blue water towards it’s dawn
My heart lost along the way in that scary but beautiful lightning storm
