A God-like Maskless Face. [MB]
De Maan schijnt, de Zon
schittert maskerloos in dat
toneelstuk Kroonboom.
The Moon and in that
Crown Tree play the Sun's
god-like* maskless face.
Vertaling/Translation: 白ç‹
Nô actor Kóshôgeñ, father of Bashô's student Señpo, also a Nô actor,
plays a warrior, a human and not a ghost or deity, and therefore
isn't wearing a mask; so his face is shining like the Sun on stage.
The Moon in this haiku is Señpo, also on stage !!
Conclusion:
On stage Señpo's face is as beautiful as the Moon, while his father
shines like an ásahi shôguñ, Rising Sun General (> YoshÃnaka) !!**
[Matsuo-Bashô-845] [Autumn/Herfst, 1693.]
tsukà ya sonó / hachà no kì no hà no / shitá omóte.
"Moon - and - that //
of - flower-pot/bowl/brainpan/crown - of/in-tree - of-Sun //
underneath - front/surface/outside."
* "god-like" > a conjecture !!
Quite obvious, acually, Bashô knowing:
a god whose face we can see, maskless.
** Op het toneel is Señpo mooi als de Maan aan het wezen,
terwijl zijn vader schittert als een ásahi shôguñ (> YoshÃnaka) !!
