Like fires of fools.

It's autumn and still we are
like fires of fools.
Like Ko Hung we haven't found
the remedy against aging.
Without moderation we drink,
without restraint we sing,
wasting the day lazily.
People flit and hurry
here and there
-- in order to please whom ?!

Autumnus est adhuc-que sumus
sicut ignes fatuorum.
Sicut Ko Hung non reperivimus
remedium senescendi.
Immoderate bibimus,
effrenate canimus,
diem perdentes in desidia.
Ultro citro-que
volitatur festinatur-que

ignis fatuus = foolish fire (??) / ignis fatui = a fool's fire /
ignes fatuorum = fires of fools [fatuarum = of foolish women]
kitsünebi = foxfire = ignis vulpeus > ignes vulpei [pl.]

In Chinese there is no "hung" > is it
"Heng" ['høŋ / 'hø:ŋ / ,hø:ŋ / høŋ?]
And "Ko" should be "Kou" > Kou Heng ??

Yesterday evening I was exploring the grounds
with the monks and now the night has ended.
All around us a deep silence is rising,
while the last Moonlight is sifted by the trees.
Almost into Heaven the mountain is rising.
Sleeping in the clouds makes one shiver of cold.
At the first stroke of the prayer-bell I wake up.
Would it also awaken my soul ?!

explorabam et nunc nox exita est.
Ubique circum nos altum silentium oritur
dum arboribus ultimum Lunae lumen cribratur.
Paene in Caelum mons ascendit.

Primo ictu precalis campanae excitor.
Excitet-ne quoque meum animum ?!
